Satellite Trajectory

It takes 4 years to finish a typical undergraduate course or bachelor’s degree, and my 4 years seemed too fast, or maybe it’s just my graduation goggles creating these images inside my head. I still remember the first day walked inside the university to inquire about the application vividly, like it was just yesterday. Now I’m about to leave the place, after I settle my papers and get what’s left of my forms. I would no longer wake up 3 hours early before my class starts just to get there on time, just to beat the traffic. I would no longer see my friends and all the familiar faces of the Thomasian community every day. I wouldn’t have to argue with my friends on where to eat only to find ourselves eating at the same siomai stall like we did yesterday. I would no longer have to go to 4N, the messy org room that’s filled with noisy people (and sometimes smells like sweat) to do work, and sometimes, get some sleep.

There’s so much more that comes into my head; it’s like when they say that if you’re about to die, your whole life will flash before your eyes. I’m experiencing a montage of my college life as it comes to an end. I’m a week or so out but I still can’t help not to think about it, especially if the glimpses show up out of nowhere. I miss it, I miss every single thing I used to do for the past 4 years, even the most pathetic and mediocre ones. I never thought I would but here I am riding the nostalgia train.

But it’s time to move on. Get a job, get my life together. The University has prepared me for it, time to put what I’ve learned inside its four magnificent walls into good use. UST will always be my home though, and I owe her everything.
