Sem-ender
8:41 AMHello Internet!
You have no idea on how many times I've tried to update this blog, and how many times I've failed, miserably.
So now that the semester's ended and we're finally on Christmas Break, I'm just gonna sum it all up in one massive post :)
I don't even know where to start so I tried to do this chronologically, here goes:
I am a Young Mover: MarkProf Roadshow
MarkProf Roadshow in a nutshell is a seminar for Marketing majors like yours truly, and it's the second year our university is hosted it. A lot of students from universities flocked to my uni to attend and hear the speakers talk about the newest marketing trends, strategies and insights. MarkProf also encouraged the participants to join their extensive training and boot camp that features mentors who came from large multinational companies like Nestle and P&G.
UST SOCC's R101
This is basically our uni's recruitment fair. Since I was part of Tomasian Cable Television, we helped out in manning the booth and asking the students to join us. It was really tiring and the sun was harsh but it was worth it.
LIV
I got to cover one of UP's events called LIV, it was a really wet and wild party, complete with water guns and colored water. But I wasn't a party girl so I just went to work and got my footage, downed a few beers and went to the midnight food bazaar right across the street. Yep.
TOMCAT Finance Division General Assembly
This is a was our way of welcoming our apprentices (what we call our new members) to our division. It was a pretty intimate get together, we rented a space at a local fast food chain near the campus, got food, played games like chubby bunny and charades. Fun.
Quench: The Student Rights and Welfare Week TV Special
I got an Executive Producer stint from our organization and I could say that it was tough to produce a TV show, even a short one. As an EP, you have to make sure that everything is in place & perfect. It's a good thing I had an awesome staff and in the end, they became my friends :) My other friends we're also very supportive; they hung out with me after school to relieve stress and to eat and I loved them for that <3
Mga Saling Pusa
This is the our organization's general assembly as a whole, we got to interact with people from different divisions, had pizza and played games. But the best part was I got to hang out with my friends, we even played RockBand after.
Thesis Paper
This semester, we have started with writing our thesis. This one's the real deal, every paper is connected to one another. Most of my afternoons were spent in coffee/milk tea shops with fast wifi access because our school wifi blocks some sites. And we actually slept over at Alex's house just to do our paper. So far, that hard work paid off. Phase 1 is done! (and we didn't flunk any).
Let There Be Light
Being in a Catholic University, it is a tradition in our uni to celebrate Christmas and to start the festivities, they held a lighting ceremony of some sort. They do it every year. It would start with the Angelus or the 6 o'clock prayer and then they'll turn on the lights and there would be a choir of some sort to set the mood. I took this day to hang out with my friends, and yes, all of them are guys. We played Call of Duty then lounged at the campus field after, watched the last episode of How to Get Away with Murder and talked about random stuff. Late night hangs are the best!
Mga Pusang Gala
This was our organization's Alumni Homecoming. I got to meet some cool people who worked for the org before and are now successful in their chosen careers. They told stories of their college days and how it was different from the real world, and how the org helped them be prepared.
Org Work
This wasn't an event but I love working for my org, TOMCAT. It made me meet new people and turn them into friends, experience new things like being a jock for a week, or an executive producer, or cover an event. Most of all, it made me grow as a person, put others ahead of me or at least look out for them, make sacrifices, organize my time and plan ahead, think fast and work around every problem. It's like living in the real world, faced with obstacles. Sometimes you'll really feel alone but you have to be strong and independent, and then you'll realize, you're never alone for people are there, even if they can't help you, they would still be there to support you. So there's that.
Anyway, that's how my 1st semester went. 3 more semesters before I graduate! Expecting more sleepless sleep overs, papers to do, milk tea and coffee to drink and fast food to binge eat. God, I am so unhealthy. But that's college, we just have to deal.
So much for sharing, how are your holidays going so far? I wish you all well :)
xx Ghine
