Philippines, being colonized by Spain for 300 or so years, turned out to be a Catholic country. Given this, people take the observance of the Holy Week seriously. Now, aside from the fasting & abstinence, processions, prayer vigils, and the Senaculo; people also do Visita Iglesia. It is where people go to at least 9 different churches to pray. It's almost like a pilgrimage of some sort.

My family and I went south bound, but to places near our city. We took the east service road and went through Paranaque, Muntinlupa and Laguna respectively. Visiting some churches my dad already knew and even stopping at some that we just found along the road.

Our last church was the church of St. John the Baptist in Calamba which is adjacent to Rizal Shrine, and the fact that it was closed didn't stop us from taking pictures. :)

It was an awesome road trip, the weather was perfect (though it was a bit too hot). We ate after and went home.
