Heartbreak Hotel is an acoustic gig held to support an advocacy: it is to support Original Thomasian Music. It was spearheaded by Tomasian Cable Television and UST Tiger Radio and it featured different Thomasian artists like Sud, Pauline Rana, Read Between The Lines and many others.

I'm not new to events for I have been staffing on some for quite a while now. What I'm new to is producing it. My past experience on producing a few TV shows had nothing compared to producing this event for I was given so many constraints. (BUDGET, time, performer schedules, venue, production design, sponsors and audience). These constraints vary from having very little to nothing at all (nope, not exaggerating). It's a good thing my co-producer is also hardworking and that I am equipped with a very enthusiastic staff.

Fast forward to the day of the event, we started hauling our stuff from our org room in Tan Yan Kee to the venue (Dormus Roofdeck). We looked like kids who ran away or got kicked out of our apartment (Ha!). The sun was extra hot and the fact that Dormus doesn't have an elevator didn't help. Nevertheless, we all moved to set up for the event, even our host, Iñigo, moved chairs.

We started to be a little anxious when 6pm rolled in and there aren't any people yet. But gradually, people started pouring in. Walk -in viewers outnumbered the ones who reserved! I was really glad to receive a lot of positive feedback, both from the viewers and the artists we invited.

At the end of the day, everyone enjoyed the show. It didn't matter how tired we (the staff) are. I can say that it was a fulfilling experience and I am looking forward to doing it again.
